Domestic divas ...

Erin and I did some shack-work today.  It didn't qualify as house-work, cos we aren't staying in a house!

We reorganised a bit, trying to make the areas more workable - and Erin vacuumed the fake grass carpet (which is quite comfortable under foot)!

I made a start on the grocery shopping too - Yowah-style.   We have picked up a few items from the caravan park shop but will need to do more extensive shopping soon.

When we came through Cunnamulla a bit over a week ago, the butcher there said we could place a phone order and he would send it out on the mail-truck.  In speaking with some of the locals, it seems the Cunnamulla IGA operates a similar service.  After ringing the store, I found the latest catalogue on their website and started a list in Excel so as to calculate a running total.

The mail-truck comes out to Yowah twice a week - on Wednesdays and Fridays (or Saturdays).  I need to place the IGA order the day before the truck is due, so plan to do that tomorrow because no-one seems entirely sure which day the mail-truck will arrive!  The rain has cleared, so the road from Cunnamulla/Eulo will be open.  I've been assured IGA staff will confirm the truck's departure and pack my order accordingly.

I expect the butcher will make similar checks. He doesn't have a website or specials catalogue, so I'll need to ring tomorrow and confirm the ordering process (as well as what is available to order).

Nick and I discovered Yowah's fruit and veg shop on Saturday.  We were greeted warmly as we knew the owners, though hadn't realised the connection.  The couple's son is a truck driver.  He buys produce from the Adelaide markets each fortnight, packs it onto his truck and meets his parents at Cunnamulla (en route to Brisbane).  Fresh produce arrives every second Friday and is stored in a cool-room at Yowah between deliveries.  Prices were very reasonable and we were impressed with the quality and range available.

It's a lot different to shopping at home, where we drive 15km and have the choice of Coles, Woolworths, Aldi, Foodworks and IGA - as well as five butchers!
